Introduction
The module prepares the student to assess, monitor, and manage the frail patient in both acute and longer-term settings.
Through reviewing current research and guidelines, and synthesising this into the context of your clinical setting. Enhancing your clinical decision making and reasoning and promoting independent practice.

Qualified healthcare professionals who work with frail older adults across any healthcare setting.
What you’ll learn
Recognition of common acute and chronic presentation in the frail older adult
The importance and theories behind a multi-disciplinary team approach to frailty management, and the implementation of them in practice
Assessment of the acutely injured frail patient and their ongoing management
Skills you’ll gain
Assessment of the frail older adult
Development of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment
Management of the Frail older adult in the context of acute or chronic illness or trauma
Develop your critical reasoning skills and decision making skills

Delivered through a combination of face to face seminars, small group work and case based discussion and simulation

Entry requirements
Must be a registered healthcare professional (e.g. nurse, midwife, AHP, pharmacist)
Usually registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (e.g. NMC, HCPC). An honours degree recognised in the UK, at 2:2 or evidence of level 6 study in a related health care subject.
If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or a recognised equivalent.

Attendance
Delivery Method:
Blended learning (in-person and online learning activities). A mix of on-campus and online learning, with both in-person sessions and digital activities included in your course. We will require all non-British and non-Irish students to attend campus for an in-person verification check to comply with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements at the start of their first module.
