Introduction
This distance learning module focuses on creating inclusive and engaging learning environments, helping Students design effective and motivating learning experiences that respond to diverse learner needs.
Students will examine how educational philosophies shape their teaching practice and develop an understanding of assessment strategies that support learning.
This forms the first module of the MSc Health and Social Care Education programme.
Who is this course/module for?
This module will attract early career educators as well as those experienced within education to create a strong multi-professional peer learning environment. The module welcomes applications from:
- Health and Social Care Professionals aiming to develop and enhance their knowledge, educational skills, behaviours and expertise of learning, teaching and facilitation
- Practitioners from wide ranging clinical, educational and academic workplace settings.
What you’ll learn
You will be learning contemporary learning theories, educational philosophies and how these can be applied to your practice. This module fosters an Inclusive pedagogy with a strong focus on equity, engagement and motivation learning techniques. You will learn to design and create lesson plans and learning activities, and to address and evaluate learning outcomes against assessment and feedback strategies.
Irrespective of your educational experience to date, this module will enable you to explore and develop, whilst learning with and from other health professionals.

- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment, reflexive to the needs of your learners
- Develop a Learning skill set for flexible planning and delivery in your setting
- Lesson planning for learning outcomes, environment, techniques and evaluation
- Enhance and strengthen your range of teaching techniques
- Critically apply teaching and learning to a session within your own practice
- Reflect on the impact of your professional development within your practice
- Introduction to interprofessional education.

Entry requirements
Applications are welcomed from
- Health and Social Care Professional Registrants
- Working within clinical, educational or academic workplaces
- With organisational support.
- Normally, Applicants will hold a first degree / professional qualification which is recognised in the UK in a related health care subject.
- International students require reliable internet access and supply IELTS scores.
The above must be evidenced in your applicant’s application form.

Attendance
Delivery Method:
Distance learning (fully online, independent study). Delivered entirely online through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with no live sessions. Students study independently using guided materials and activities, with online academic support available to help them stay on track.
