Introduction
This module introduces the principles of simulation based education and structured debriefing within health and social care.
You will explore how experiential learning, scenario design and reflective dialogue can enhance learner development, critical thinking and patient safety, while developing confidence in facilitating inclusive and psychologically safe simulation experiences.

What you’ll learn
You will learn how to design, facilitate and evaluate simulation based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, reflection and safe practice. You will analyse structured debriefing models, apply inclusive and psychologically safe approaches, and examine how simulation contributes to patient safety, quality improvement and professional development within health and social care settings.

How you’ll learn
You will learn through a blended approach combining live online workshops, structured activities and self directed study. Learning is applied to your professional context and supported by peer collaboration, critical discussion and reflective practice. Digital resources and formative feedback will help you develop confidence in designing and facilitating simulation and debrief.

Entry requirements
Applicants should hold an honours degree or provide evidence of successful Level 6 study or equivalent professional experience. This module is designed for qualified health and social care professionals who are currently involved in teaching, supervision or educational development within practice or academic settings. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the capacity to study at Level 7 and to apply learning within their professional context.

Attendance
Delivery Method:
Synchronous online learning (distance learning). Take part in live, timetabled online sessions using tools like video calls and virtual classrooms. You’ll learn in real time with tutors and other students, with no need to attend campus for teaching or assessments.
