“Volunteering at the World Seniors Snooker Championship gave me crucial skills for my career”

MSc Sport Business Management student Leah Steel helped deliver a major sporting event, the World Seniors Snooker Championship held at the Crucible Theatre, where she developed significant experience she can apply to her future career as an entrepreneur in the leisure sports industry.

Leah was one of a group of Sheffield Hallam students who worked at the event following a new partnership between Sheffield Hallam University and World Seniors Snooker, which offers students the chance to experience every aspect of planning and executing a large-scale sporting event.

“A personal highlight was when I could hear what was going on behind the scenes and the director giving orders through my earpiece, when the rest of the room was silent during the snooker game.

“All the skills I learned will be crucial for my future career.”
