'Talking about body image in schools is really rewarding.'

Laura Tarry is studying our BSc (Honours) Nutrition, Diet and Lifestyle. As part of her course, she works with a local charity on a topic that means a lot to her.

‘Our course tutors are eager for us to build up as much experience and knowledge as we can on real projects. I work with South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Association, travelling around schools and colleges talking to teenagers about body image. We teach people to be happy in their own skin and nurture their bodies by eating healthily.

‘My friend had an eating disorder so it’s affected me personally. It’s really rewarding coming away from a school knowing that you could have made a difference to someone’s life. I’ve learned a lot about eating disorders, which will be really useful when I graduate because I’ll be applying for jobs in dietetics.’
