I joined Sheffield Hallam in 2009, having previously taught at Queen's and the University of Central Lancashire.
My PhD research investigated lesbians' and gay men's lived experiences of homophobia in Northern Ireland during the 'Troubles' period. My analysis highlighted a need to consider the unique cultural differences affecting understandings of and responses to homophobic hate crimes in Northern Ireland in order to effectively address this form of prejudice and victimisation.
