Criminology and community justice
Richard worked in criminal and community justice practice as a paralegal, drug worker, prison probation officer and community case manager until 2001. Since then he has developed his research interests (drugs, pre-sentence reports, social exclusion 1994 -1999), teaching experience and academic development practice at the University of Plymouth (on the BA Community Justice course 2000 - 2003) and at Sheffield Hallam University (since 2003).
He has recently held Sheffield Hallam University Associate (personal) and University (small group) Teaching Fellowships and is an Associate of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Promoting Learner Autonomy. He has had a secondment to The Assessment for Learning Initiative (TALI) and is the Faculty of Development and Society appointee for Research-informed Teaching.
