King Ecgbert School

King Ecgbert School

King Ecgbert School caters for children who have a severe communication disorder. Provision is integrated and all pupils spend the majority of their week in mainstream lessons with varying levels of support.

It is a 20-place unit with two teachers and six support workers. The intake is four pupils a year and all children must have a Statement of Special Educational Need.

Integration Into Work begins during Year 9 for most pupils when we attempt to find a suitable employment placement for one morning a week. Employers we currently work with include Sainsburys, Norwich Union, Marks & Spencers and a local garden centre. We also have our own Life Skills and Personal and Social Education packages of learning.

We have our own post-16 provision linked directly to Sheffield College. We currently have seven post-16 students supported by three staff.
