Community Support and Enquiries

Our students are a great asset to the city, and contribute to making Sheffield the vibrant, culturally rich and innovative community it is today.

We provide a range of support and guidance to ensure students understand their responsibilities, can stay safe, and are considerate to those around them. Students are also required to meet the expectations of the student charter and our student code of conduct

We encourage students to think beyond their studies and to contribute to the communities where they live and work. This means everything from organising and taking part in events, to being responsible neighbours or volunteering.

Volunteering gives our students the chance to contribute to society or to a cause they feel strongly about. It also enables them to develop skills and confidence and gain experience, as well as helping enter their chosen field after graduation.

Reporting inconsiderate behaviour

Though most of our students add value to their local communities, we recognise that sometimes there may be negative effects associated with some students, who may be new to independent living. Some of the challenges we face involve noise, anti-social behaviour, waste and parking.

We work closely with the University of Sheffield, the City Council, South Yorkshire Police, and landlords to ensure students are aware of their responsibilities to stay safe and be considerate neighbours.

We encourage those experiencing such behaviour to get in touch through our online reporting form so we can investigate. Residents can also call our 24 hour helpline 0114 225 2000. We also encourage residents to report noise nuisance to Sheffield City Council, and to always contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 if they witness a serious incident or illegal activity.
