Our students make a valuable contribution to our city and its communities, from completing thousands of hours of voluntary work, to conducting placements and part-time employment to boost the economy. We provide a range of support and guidance to ensure students understand their responsibilities, can stay safe and are considerate to those around them. Students are also required to meet the expectations of the student charter during their time at Sheffield Hallam.
We work closely with the University of Sheffield, the City Council, South Yorkshire Police, and landlords to ensure students are aware of their responsibilities to stay safe and be considerate neighbours.
We recognise that there can occasionally be challenges for local residents living in areas with high numbers of students. If you experience any issues that cannot be resolved through informal conversations, you can report this to us using our online form and we will investigate. You can also call our 24 hour helpline on 0114 225 2000. We also encourage you to report noise nuisance to Sheffield City Council. If you witness a serious incident or illegal activity always contact the Police on 101 in the first instance or here for a breach of the Covid-19 guidelines.
