Welcome to the Department of Teacher Education website.

We're one of the biggest teacher education departments in the country. We cover the full range of teaching, from primary, early years and secondary to post-16 education and training, plus continuing professional development for those already in the job.

We offer several routes into teaching, from three-year undergraduate degrees to one and two-year PGCEs.

We have key government contracts – we're the regional lead for the innovative Teach First programme in the Yorkshire and Humber area and an integral part of the Schools Direct initiative.

We also have an active partnership with over 600 local schools and colleges.

Recent Ofsted reports have reinforced the excellent reputation of our teaching courses. And our graduates are extremely successful in gaining teaching posts. In 2012, 96% of our graduates are in teaching positions or further education within six months.
