Adam Leach

Adam Leach BA (Hons) MSc

NCIA Programme Director

Summary

I lead the National Civic Impact Accelerator (NCIA) Programme, helping universities across England to transform lives and places. My aim is to maximise the contribution that universities can make towards addressing societal challenges and responding to national policy priorities.

About

I joined Sheffield Hallam in 2018 as Senior Specialist Manager, leading a range of projects designed to improve the wider educational health of the South Yorkshire region, including designing and implementing an early years speech, language, and communication skills strategy in collaboration with the region’s four councils, to address regional workforce skills gaps and provide resources and signposting for parents and early years professionals.

I now lead the National Civic Impact Accelerator (NCIA), a three-year £4.3 million Research England funded programme of work designed to leverage the power and resources of educational organisations like universities to drive positive societal change.

My role includes designing, developing, and delivering a high performing national programme of research, innovation, and capacity building services, and to lead a collaborative set of teams across the university and a range of external partner organisations.

My previous roles were predominantly within the Civil Service, focusing on developing Official Statistics in relation to the national supply of trainee teachers, and advising senior policymakers, officials, and ministers on using data analysis and intelligence to change and strengthen national education policies.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Politics from Sheffield Hallam University, and a MSc in Politics with Research Methods from the University of Sheffield.
