Alex Robinson MA
Senior Lecturer
Summary
I joined the Radiotherapy & Oncology team at Sheffield Hallam University in 2014; since then I have developed specialities within radiation physics, dosimetry and technology enhance learning. I have high levels of motivation in developing enriched learning experiences and as such I have been nominated and one university inspirational lecture on three separate occasions resulting in being awarded the Hallam award from the Vice-Chancellor.
About
I graduated from Portsmouth University with a BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy & Oncology in 2006, upon completion gained HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer and worked at Southampton General Hospital. This was my first qualified position which allowed me to consolidate my prior learning and start to develop a special interest within the pre-treatment and planning sections of radiotherapy. At this stage I worked on a conventional simulator as well as completing manual contours and hand planning. In 2008 I moved to Saint James' Teaching Hospital, Leeds. My interests within radiotherapy remained in pre-treatment and planning where I spent time further developing accurate and reproduce treatments, developing the 4D speciality.
In 2014 I joined Sheffield Hallam and since have completed a MA in Education, developed the curriculum through module leadership and course leadership of the BSc undergraduate programme. I am also the professional link tutor at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull. I run the contemporary radiotherapy planning practice MSc module and the lead of the radiotherapy treatment planning software system utilised at the university. I am also the school's radiation protection supervisor.
My research focuses on radiotherapy planning and image guided radiotherapy. I am currently developing research that looks at decision-making within IGRT via eye tracking technology.
