Summary
Andrew is a Chartered Architect and Associate Head in the Creative Industries Institute at at Sheffield Hallam University.
About
Andrew has worked at Sheffield Hallam University since 2001. During that time he has played a key role if the development of all four of the Architecture courses. He has been course leader for each of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Architecture and Architectural Technology.
In 2010 he took on the role of Academic Group Leader for Architecture, latterly becoming Head of Architecture.
Before becoming an Associate Head in the Creative Industries Institute he was Deputy Head of the Department of Natural and Built Environment, leading on course revalidations and teaching and learning across the diverse department.
Andrew is a regular Chair of RIBA Validation Boards, responsible for the professional recognition of architecture course in the UK and Internationally.
Andrew's students have won a number of awards at both Part 1 and Part 2 level from the RIBA White Rose Competition.
During eight years in practice at Derek Trowell Architects his completed projects were used as models for published academic research and have been featured in the architectural and national press. In his time as a student at The University of Sheffield Andrew worked regularly for University's Architectural Consultancy Service, collaborating with staff members on live projects and competitions.
He remains an active architect and sustainability driven self-builder.

Andrew teaches broadly across the architecture courses in the fields of design. technology, environment, history and theory and professional practice.
