About

Before undertaking my doctoral study, I completed an MSc in the Sociology of Sport and a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, both at the University of Chester.

Teaching

College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences

Although I have researched a number of areas, such as school sport, sport policy and pain and injury in sport, the majority of my work over the past few years has been concerned with professional football. During my masters this related to the growing financial inequalities between groups of football clubs, however, more recently, my work has centred upon the effectiveness of education and welfare policies being implemented in professional football academies and centres of excellence. In this regard, the majority of my research now centres on athlete welfare, including verbal and physical abuse, pain and injury and other welfare issues at the elite level of professional sport.
