Summary

Fiona joined Sheffield Hallam in 2003 following seven years of working in event management, marketing and sponsorship roles within the sport industry. Her main research interests are in marketing, internationalisation and organisational behaviour within Sport and Higher Education.

Fiona has held numerous roles within the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity including Course Leader of BSc (Hons) Sport Event Management, Academy International Lead and currently Undergraduate Academic Delivery Lead and Principal Lecturer. Fiona has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels with Hallam in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Fiona is also part of the Academy's management group and recently completed an MBA in January 2017 with a research focus of the impact of leadership style on staff engagement.

    Fiona is a Principal Lecturer in the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity. She has taught and supervised students since 2003 in the subject of Sport Business Management. As Undergraduate Academic Delivery Lead Fiona oversees the quality of the undergraduate student experience, which includes enhancing induction and student support systems, implementing the reapproval of courses and responding to student feedback.

    Fiona is now an Academic Delivery Lead for the Academy overseeing undergraduate courses at Hallam and collaborative partner courses with SHAPE IVE in Hong Kong. This involves working with academic and support staff to oversee the delivery of curriculum and working to enhance the student experience. Supporting the day to day operations of the following programmes by working closely with Course Leaders: Sport Coaching UK and Hong Kong L6 Top Up programme; Sport Business Management UK and Hong Kong L6 Top Up programme and Sport Development with Coaching.

    Prior to the Academic Delivery Lead role Fiona was the Academy International Lead for five years with the primary objective of growing international partnerships and student numbers within the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity. This included engaging with potential new partnership opportunities, leading on accreditation events, and programme management. Internationalisation of the Academy academic programmes which includes international student experience, global opportunities for UK students and internationalisation of course curricula was also a key component of this role.

    Fiona has been involved in the Sport Management industry since 1996 and has taught at Sheffield Hallam since 2003. Fiona's industry background was within event management, sponsorship and marketing related roles in both the private and public sector predominantly associated with the sport basketball.

    Fiona has a BSc (Hons) and, MSc in Sport Management and recently gained an MBA in February 2017. Her main research interests are in marketing, internationalisation and organisational behaviour within Sport and Higher Education.
