Principal Lecturer

Summary

I am the Undergraduate assessment lead for the Nursing & Midwifery department, working closely with Course Leaders to ensure that the assessment of our students meets not only SHU assessment regulations but those of the NMC & HCPC professional bodies as well. The work that I do within this role also ensures that students are being assessed in a timely manner to ensure smooth progression through their programmes.

About

I work 50% of my time in the Nursing and Midwifery department and in the other 50% of my time I am College lead for Undergraduate Student Recruitment for the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences.

I am passionate about resuscitation and ensuring that not only our students receive these vital skills but also the lay public. I am an Advanced Paediatric Life Support instructor and teach on this course nationally. This has enabled me to bring the Paediatric Life Support course to Sheffield Hallam. We are the only HEI in the country that provides this programme as part of the Child Nursing programme in their final year. This not only gives the students a nationally recognised qualification but also enables them to demonstrate value added skills and performance on registration.
