Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy
I recently joined Sheffield Hallam in October last year having worked for the NHS for fourteen years. I currently work in the OT team and am module lead for Personal and Professional Development year 1 and 2. I worked in many varying roles whilst working for the NHS and feel this has made me a well rounded practitioner.
I graduated from York St John in 2000 with a Bsc (hons) Degree in Occupational Therapy. I have gone on to gain firther accreditation in the form of a PG Cert in Leadership and Service Imporvement and I am currently working towards my full Msc in Advancing Professional Practise. I stared my OT career on a rotation at my local hospital. I then went on to specialise in Neurological Rehablitation.
I then worked in a partnership prgoramme with the DWP as a Condition Management Practitioner working with people on incapacity benefits trying to help them back into work.
I then went to work as a Clinical Lead on a brain injury rehabilitation unit. I was responsilbe for the OT team.
I then worked as a Case Manager on a emergency admission unit carrying out reviews of patient to ascertain what level of care they required.
I then went to work as a Advanced Therapy Practitioner for a falls prevention team. I thoroughly enjoyed this role and was involved in many service improvements and initiatives that benefitted patients.
Most recently I worked as a Rehabilitation Co ordinaor and falls lead. I was responsible for 3 service areas and over 30 staff.
