Summary

I currently lead the Primary GTP programme, and am an academic tutor for Primary PGCE trainees. I am a University Link Tutor for trainees on all of our routes into teaching supporting their placements in schools. I teach on various modules in the Primary PGCE programme and GTP and also have a role in developing future partnerships with schools.

About

I trained as a teacher at the College of St.Paul.s and St. Mary's in Cheltenham (now the University of Gloucestershire) and taught for twelve years in various schools in Cambridge in various roles progressing to Deputy Headteacher of a large city primary school.

During my time in Cambridge I also worked as an associate of the University working on the teacher training programmes at Homerton College with a particular emphasis on curriculum ICT.

I moved to Derbyshire in 2004 where I worked as a Primary Headteacher for nearly 10 years prior to starting my current role at SHU.

I am particularly interested in using my school based teaching and leadership experience in my University teaching, developing trainees professional attributes, understanding and teaching skills.

I have a particular personal interest in the subjects of the primary foundation curriculum and all aspects of professional practice with a particular interest in safeguarding.
