Summary

Ryan joined the Sport Industry Research Centre as a Graduate Intern in 2017, having completed undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in sports science and nutrition. Ryan was hired as a permanent member of the team in 2018 and has since worked on projects for major clients across all of SIRC's core work strands. 

 

About

Ryan has demonstrated accomplished quantitative and qualitative research skills in projects across a range of SIRC’s core themes, including economic impact assessments, intervention project evaluations, in-depth case studies and randomised controlled trials.  Ryan has had significant involvement in researching the economic impact of major sporting events, having led teams of researchers at international events in traditional (Netball World Cup), non-traditional (Skateboarding World Championship), and disability (Boccia World Championship) sports.  Ryan also has a keen interest in research in the outdoors, having had involvement in research projects surrounding active travel and green space use for clients such as Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust and Sheffield City Council. Ryan is also a key member of the Outdoor Recreation Research Group (ORRG), the first research team in the UK to focus solely on outdoor recreation.  Clients that Ryan has completed work for include: • Sport England • UK Sport • The Youth Sport Trust • The Department of Culture, Media, and Sport • The English Football League
