About

Ryan is a Researcher within the Sports Industry Research Centre with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Sheffield Hallam University, having joined as a Graduate Intern in 2017. His work spans across a range of projects involving programme evaluations, economic impact assessments, social return on investment studies, sport satellite accounts and more. Ryan’s quantitative data handling skills have developed through working on a number of large data analysis projects such as the National Benchmarking Service, DCMS: UK Sport Satellite Accounts, R&A: A Satellite Account for Golf in the UK, and recent publications for the Commonwealth Secretariat on ‘Resourcing the sustainability and recovery of the sport sector during the Coronavirus pandemic’. Ryan has recently completed a master’s degree in Data Analytics, developing cutting edge data handling and modelling techniques. Furthermore, Ryan is an Accredited Researcher, giving him access to secure datasets within the ONS and UKDS.

Ryan’s recent work has focused on whole-system approaches in the national evaluation of Sport England’s Place Partnership investment strategy. His role is that of Lead Data Analyst, responsible for collecting, managing, and analysing large quantities of qualitative and quantitative data to contribute towards a mixed methods approach combining realist techniques with configurational analysis. This work has been presented at a number of international research conferences and represents the cutting-edge of systems thinking and evaluation.
