Certificates, transcripts and academic documents

Find out how to order replacement award certificates, academic transcripts and other official documents from Sheffield Hallam University, including:

Award certificates

Award certificates are official documents that confirm the award you’ve achieved. You can only request a replacement if your original has been lost or damaged.

  • If you completed your course within the last year
    If you haven't received your original award certificate, check the 'My Certificate and Graduation' page on My Student Record.
  • If you graduated in or before 1992
    If you graduated from Sheffield City Polytechnic, you'll need to contact the relevant awarding body. For Undergraduate or Postgraduate certificates, please visit the Open University website and type "Duplicate Certificate" into the search box. For BTEC, HNC and HND award certificates, please visit the Pearson website and type "Replacement Certificate" into the search box.

Award certificate attestations

We can verify an electronic copy of your award certificate and academic transcript, free of charge, by affixing them with an official Sheffield Hallam University date stamp and the signature of the Director of Academic Services. Please note, we can provide up to 5 electronic and/or hard copies, but we cannot stamp original certificates. We will verify photographs of your documents so long as the images are clear and legible

To verify your documents, please email a scanned copy of your certificate and academic transcript to certificates@shu.ac.uk.

Award verifications

An award verification is an official letter confirming the basic details of your course and award. This document is available in digital format only.

Belated honorary awards (Lady Mabel and Totley/Thornbridge)

If you attended Lady Mabel College or Totley/Thornbridge College of Education between 1950 – 1977, you may be eligible to receive an honorary degree from Sheffield Hallam University.

If you believe you are eligible, please email certificates@shu.ac.uk with proof of your award from the college (e.g. an award certificate or transcript). If you have changed your name since completing your studies, please also include evidence of this change, such as a marriage certificate or deed poll document. Certificates will include the award title Bachelor of Education Honoris Causa. Honorary degree requests are processed every two months.

Course syllabus breakdown

A course syllabus document provides an overview of the course you studied at Sheffield Hallam. Where available, it includes a programme outline and module information.

Employer qualification checks

Employers and recruitment agencies can verify qualifications at the Higher Education Degree Datacheck. After registering, they can verify your degree in real-time by selecting Sheffield Hallam from the list of UK higher education institutions and choosing the "Verify Now" option. Enquirers are charged a fee per enquiry.

Results transcripts

Results transcripts are official documents that detail the award you gained, the modules you studied, and the marks you achieved during your course. Transcripts include an official Sheffield Hallam University date stamp and are provided in a digital format only.

WES form documents

World Education Services (WES) provides an international credential evaluation to help graduates gain employment in the US or Canada. To support your application, we can send documents directly to WES via a secure file transfer process, free of charge.

To do this, please email a scanned copy of your award certificate, transcript and WES form to the Certificates Team at certificates@shu.ac.uk.
