SportWorks partnership in the pipeline for business management graduate

Sheffield Business School graduate Nan Chen is developing a successful business following his involvement in the Venture Matrix scheme.

Nan engaged with the Venture Matrix last year as part of one of his modules on the MSc International Business Management course in order to add experience to his CV and build his professional network.

Nan and his group worked on a project for Sheffield-based company SportWorks Logistics, who offer specialist skills and knowledge for the delivery of national and international sports events.

Keen to expand into international territories, SportWorks Logistics initially wanted the Venture Matrix students to focus on the company's growth in the Brazilian market, but were convinced by Nan to allow the group to look into exploring the Chinese market instead.

Initially uncertain about the change in direction, the company's doubts were put to rest when they saw the results of the group's work. They were so impressed by the students' findings that they are now in the process of entering a business partnership with Nan, who is implementing the strategy he and the group created in order to take SportWorks Logistics products into China.

Although not signed and sealed, the emerging partnership is a testament to the impact our projects can have on University students and the businesses that work with them.
