Sheffield Business School student speaks at tourism conference

Student Amber Cagney took centre stage at the Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE) conference 2012. The event extends our relationship with this nationally acclaimed association, having hosted a highly successful ATHE conference three years ago.

The conference was held at Selwyn College, the University of Cambridge, and was attended by leading national and international academics to discuss the future of tourism curriculum development.

The conference annually awards prizes to the best undergraduate and postgraduate students on tourism programmes from each ATHE member institution. Sheffield Business student Amber Cagney was presented with a prize for the best undergraduate student on a tourism programme by Ron Barnett, emeritus professor of higher education.

Unfortunately, Sheffield Business School alumnus and former winner of the same prize, Laura Exton, could not make the conference. Nevertheless, Amber spoke at the conference and shared a platform with Kevin Hannam of Leeds Metropolitan University, and Les Lumsden of the University of Central Lancashire.
