Prof Simona Francese hosted this training school between 17-21st June at Sheffield Hallam University, where 16 practitioners from law enforcement agencies from all over Europe came together for a theoretical and practical course on the state-of-the-art developments and practice in the development of fingerprints and blood fingerprints.

Lectures were delivered by West Technology, Foster and Freeman, Teesside University, RIS Carabinieri, Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) German Police and London South Bank University.

The fingermark research group (Prof. Francese and PhD students Cristina Russo and Cameron Heaton) have actively engaged by delivering lectures on MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging and Proteomics applied to the above forensic evidence. Laboratory training on our pioneering technology has been very well received and holds the promise for future collaborations on police casework.
