On 18th March 2019, Prof Thomas Smith gave a talk entitled "Bioremediation of chromium VI and selenium pollution by methane oxidising bacteria" at the Balancing Climate Change, Biodiversity and Food Security conference in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India.

Tom’s travel was funded by a GCRF grant held by Dr Deepak Kumaresan at Queen's University, Belfast (QUB). This meeting was one of a number worldwide organised by QUB to establish a network of researchers around the world to tackle environmental problems.
