Professor Le Maitre was an invited speaker to Biospine: 7th International Congress on Biotechnologies for Spinal Surgery which was held in Rome, Italy, on 3-5 April 2019, delivering two invited presentations:

• Three prong attack for regeneration of the intervertebral disc: consideration of the degenerate niche.
• The cellular implications and importance in disc calcification - not just endplate anymore!
