Two members of staff, Prachi Stafford and Dan Kelly, along with three PhD students attended the annual Northern Vascular Biology Forum at the University of Bradford on 10th December 2018.

The aim of the NVBF is to develop collaborations between vascular biologists in the region and to provide a platform for the presentation of original research findings, scientific discussion and networking. This one day meeting (consisting of oral presentations and a poster session) brought together research students, post-doctoral researchers and established investigators from ~13 research institutions in the North of England including LJMU, Liverpool Hope University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Newcastle University, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Bradford, University of Hull, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, University of Manchester, University of Sheffield and University of Wolverhampton.

Prachi Stafford is on the organising committee and Sheffield Hallam University will be hosting the next meeting, organised by Dan Kelly and Prachi Stafford, in December 2019.

At this year’s event, doctoral student Lauren Bateman presented her poster entitled ‘Investigating anti-atherogenic effects of testosterone on Macrophage subsets’ and chaired one of the sessions, while doctoral student Alex Andrews gave a talk on ‘Strain dependent induction of platelet aggregation and activation by Porphyromonas gingivalis’. Erasmus student Lisa Holnsteiner also attended.
