Parenting programmes benefit children and families, but many parents do not access the support that is available to them locally. This research project will investigate a new Behavioural Science Toolkit to promote Engagement (BeST Engage) in parenting programmes among disadvantaged families.
The project is being led by Professor Maddy Arden from Manchester Metropolitan University and Professor Abi Millings from Sheffield Hallam University. Funded by a NIHR Public Health Research Grant, this £1.5 million programme of research will involve collaborators from Queen Mary University of London and the University of Sheffield, and will include over 40 local authorities across England.
Local authorities that take part in the trial will be given free access to the toolkit, which contains guidance to help them develop resources that promote engagement with their parenting programmes.
If your local authority is interested in taking part, please email bestengage@shu.ac.uk for further information.
