Event management courses

Our courses prepare you for every aspect of an exciting career in events. The events industry drives business and provides entertainment and leisure to global audiences. You'll learn the principles of event design and delivery, marketing, people and safety management. You'll also start thinking strategically and creatively about events, festivals, and esports in a variety of commercial contexts.

At undergraduate level, you'll take part in activity-based learning and work experience in every year of your course, including the production of your own live event. On our postgraduate event management course, you'll study international events from cultural and sporting occasions to conferences and exhibitions, with the option to create and deliver a live event.

In the 2023 Guardian University League Table we are ranked 6th out of 48 universities for overall student satisfaction in hospitality, event management and tourism. All of our events courses benefit from the Department of Service Sector Management's close links with employers. Previous students have completed work experience with Glastonbury Festival, Tramlines Festival, The Great North Run, Cancer Research UK, Reuters Events, and Ticketmaster.
