Undergraduate students can take breaks in study for several reasons; however when that reason is due to a physical or mental health condition that has resulted in a medical professional insisting you take a break in studies; SFE may continue to provide financial support for a period of up to 60 days.
If you would like to receive financial support during your health led break in study; you will need to provide to your Student Support Advisor (SSA) a completed “SHU Evidence for BIS form” or a fitnote from a health professional (GP, Doctor BACP Councillor or Occupational Health professional) stating that you need to take a break in studies, and the period that you need to take off. Once an SSA’s has seen this and your break in study has been processed in our systems, we can report your break in study for health purposes, and SFE can award any additional finance.
