National Student Money Week

National Student Money Week is the UK's biggest money awareness event for students.

This year we have packed a week's worth of activities into one event!

Join us for a packed programme of interactive activities, expert advice, freebies, and practical tips to help you make your money go further. From budgeting and cooking low-cost meals to finding part-time work and avoiding scams, you’ll find hands-on support from university teams and local partners.

What’s happening on the day?

  • Accommodation – Practical budgeting activities focused on managing priority bills and essential costs
  • Wellbeing – Problem-solving activity tackling real student money challenges with guided tools and templates
  • Heavy Metal Therapy – Mental health and music-based wellbeing support, with peer-created resources and information
  • Catering – Cooking demos of cheap, quick, and nutritious meals, plus tasters and freebies
  • Sports – Bucketball challenge highlighting how feeling active and positive supports better financial decisions 
  • Careers & Employability:

- Promoting current on-campus and part-time jobs

- Careers programmes and opportunities

- Interactive Hallam Award activity

- Workshop: Finding and Applying for Part-Time Jobs (2-2.30pm, location TBC)

Plus, support from external partners

  • Students’ Union – Cost of Living initiatives including the Community Fridge, SU Advice, and interactive activities
  • Student Officers – Meet your reps and learn more about student support and initiatives
  • South Yorkshire Police – Scam awareness and staying safe from fraud
  • Reyt Repair – Live mini repair demos to help you fix items instead of buying new
  • YGAM – Interactive Jenga game raising awareness of gambling harms
