A statement by the University on 'safety net' measures for students

Following the introduction of no-detriment measures for assessments in 2019/20, we have revised our assessments which have been designed with online and on-campus teaching in mind

We have also worked with our Students’ Union and Safety Net campaign to introduce a ‘safety net’ of measures ahead of this semester. This supports all our students to achieve fair outcomes given the ongoing impact of the pandemic.

This recognises the current circumstances by making provision for longer deadline extensions, whilst those experiencing particular difficulties can request to take or repeat assessments later in the academic year. There is also a process to adjust marks if there is evidence of underperformance across a particular module.

These measures are on top of all our existing support, which includes every student having access to a dedicated academic adviser and extra support for students with Learning Contracts.

Students can get more information, guidance and support on arrangements for their assessments by accessing the assessment support pages on our website or contacting their academic adviser.
