The Research Excellence Framework is the UK’s system for assessing the excellence of research in UK higher education providers, the outcomes of REF are used to inform the public funding of university research.
Being selected as a panel member for REF 2029 is a significant recognition of an academic’s research and expertise in their field.
Four academics from Sheffield Hallam University have been appointed for REF 2029:
- Professor Julie Nightingale, sub-panel member (assessment phase) for Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy
- Professor Jane Prophet, sub-panel member (assessment phase) for Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory
- Professor Simon Shibli, sub-panel member (assessment phase) for Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism
- Emeritus Professor Wayne Cranton, sub-panel member for Physics
Sarah Pearson, Dean of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at Sheffield Hallam University, said: “My warmest congratulations to Sheffield Hallam colleagues who have been announced as REF 2029 sub-panel members.
