The award, sponsored by Sheffield Forgemasters, commended the high-quality, inclusive professional training of the programme, which blends academic study with operational policing, ensuring apprentices develop the knowledge, skills, and ethical standards needed for modern policing.
The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), delivered in partnership with South Yorkshire Police, has successfully trained more than 290 new officers, achieving a 100 per cent pass rate while also contributing to increased diversity in recruitment. This reflects Sheffield Hallam University’s ongoing commitment to widening participation. With consistently high retention and progression rates, alongside recognition through national awards, the University’s apprenticeship provision continues to deliver meaningful benefits for individuals, employers, and the wider community.
