David Swann's research artefacts from Kos featured in new film at HOME in Manchester

Date: From Sunday 15 January 2017 to Saturday 21 January 2017
Venue: HOME, 2 Tony Wilson Place, First Street, Manchester

Dr David Swann's research Kos: Absence-Presence has yielded artefacts to be featured with a new film showing at HOME, Manchester's new arts centre, as part of the PUSH Festival 2017.  Louise Wallwein presents 'The Island, The Sea, The Volunteer & The Refugee,' which tells the urgent story of our times - migration - from a personal perspective of being a volunteer with Kos Solidarity in Greece. David Swann accompanied Louise Wallwein and director Susan Roberts to Kos in March 2016 for the making of the film, retrieving key artefacts that depicted the migrant experience, including children's footwear, inflated arm bands and an orange mono-bloc plastic chair.

You can read more about the film here, including screening times and booking information.

Dr David Swann is Subject Group Leader for Product and Furniture Design at the Sheffield Institute of Arts, Sheffield Hallam University.
