Esther Johnson's film 'Asunder' supported by 14 18 NOW, WW1 Centenary Art Commissions

Friday 19 August 2016

Esther Johnson's poetic documentary feature film 'Asunder' is featured in the current 14-18 NOW programme of arts events connecting people with the First World War.  Using contemporary and archive footage, Asunder tells the story of what happened to a quintessential town in the North East during the First World War.  The soundtrack for the film is composed by Field Music and Warm Digits, performing with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Cornshed Sisters. The work premiered in July at Sunderland Empire and has featured on BBC 6 Music, in The Guardian and Sunderland Echo. Future screenings and performances in 2017 include the Barbican, London and HOME, Manchester.

You can read more about Asunder here and here, and find more information about the 14-18 NOW commemorations here.
