How to get a SHUcard

All cards are requested via My Student Record on the ‘My Enrolment and Fees‘ page or via a Teams form SHU Card Application - Student (Page 1 of 13). SHU cards are produced on site and may be requested at point of order to be posted or collected. Posted cards are sent via second class mail to the address provided.

2025 Enrolment Card Collection Point:

Atrium level 2 From 15 -27 September

27 September onwards: Cards can be collected from:

Head Post Office (S1 2BA) or Aspect Court (S1 2BG) Reception points. 

 

New Students 

  • All Students must be fully enrolled to get a SHU Card. All new students will receive an email link to the online form after they have been fully enrolled. New students can apply via Log in to the portal (shu.ac.uk).
  • Students opting to have card posted are required to provide a term time postal address which will need to include flat numbers/building name, road name and postcode.
  • Applications with incomplete addresses will be rejected.
  • £10 lost card charge for a replacement card when wrong address is provided.
  • Students need to upload a JPG photo when making their application. A card cannot be printed if this format is not used.
  • Any photos that do not meet the guidelines will be rejected.
  • Once photos are approved a notification will be sent to the student. A further notification will be sent when the card is produced and posted.
  • Post out cards can take up to 10 days to arrive.
  • Access to the library is automatic. Any other access linked to studies can be added if required by the subject. This is carried out at the Head Post office (S1 2BA)

To order new or replacement staff card. All cards need to be ordered on an individual basis.

Students must be logged into Microsoft services using their student email address in the format of to access this form:  studentID@hallam.shu.ac.uk

Lost or damaged cards

  • A£10 charge must be paid for lost or damaged cards this is paidfor via the online store SHU Online store., before SHU Card Application - Student (Page 1 of 13) order can be completed.
  • Customers are required to register with the online store before payment can be made.This is not single sign on.
  • New photos can be downloaded if required.
  • If your card is stolen, a crime reference number is required to get a replacement card free of charge.

Returning students/Expired cards

 

Returning students who have out of date cards will need to enter the old card details when completing SHU Card Application - Student (Page 1 of 13) .

  • Once a new card is produced all access, including the library, will cease to work on the old card.
  • SHU cards can be requested to be collected in person or to be posted.
  • Library access is automatic; any other access must be linked to the subject. This needs to be requested at the time of application and will take 48 hours to activate.
  • Please include your Student/Staff ID in any correspondence.
