Apply

You can apply online for accommodation once you have been made an offer of a place to study here. You may need to wait up to 48 hours once you have received your offer before you register and apply. 

Using the online system

Step 1: register - you will need your student ID, you will find it on an email from us. Once registered you will receive an email containing your validation code. You only need to register online for accommodation once.
Step 2: login - using your personal registration details and validation code.
Step 3: Select three halls you would like to apply for. Remember, you might not be offered your first choice, so make sure you are happy with all of your selections.

Help in applying for accommodation
  • Apply as soon as you have received a course offer

  • Think carefully about which accommodation suits your own requirements and budget before you apply

  • You will receive an accommodation offer once your status has changed through UCAS to an unconditional firm and you meet the academic requirements for the course

    .

  • September entry

    • You will be made an offer of accommodation by email from April.
    • If you are only studying for the first semester you must select your year of study as 2018/19 and select non-standard course student as your student type.

  • January entry

    • Students will be allocated a room in Liberty Hall where there are a limited number of beds available for non-standard courses
    • We will then allocate to halls that have been vacated early and are available
    • Select your year of study as 2018/19 and non-standard course student as your student type
    • You will be made an offer of accommodation by email from December

  • March entry nursing students

    • Students will be allocated a room in Liberty Hall where there are a limited number of beds available for non-standard courses
    • We will then allocate to halls that have been vacated early and are available
    • Select your year of study as 2018/19 and non-standard course student as your student type
    • You will be made an offer of accommodation by email from January

    If we are able to offer you a room in halls you may be moving in with flat mates who are already settled in Sheffield and the majority of flats will consist of students studying a variety of courses.

  • Postgraduate and mature student

    • A number of flats are set aside in a mixture of halls with other postgraduate and/or mature students
  • Current (returning) students

    • Applications received before 31 March will be guaranteed a place in one of your preferred halls
    • Select two halls you would prefer
    • Friendship group requests can be made as part of the application process
    • If you are on a non-standard course please select year of study as 2018/19 and non-standard course student as your student type
  • Late applicants, clearing and insurance

    • If you apply late, through clearing, or SHU was your insurance choice, we can guarantee to make you an offer of accommodation.
  • Non-Sheffield Hallam University students

    • If you're not a Sheffield Hallam University student and you want to apply for one of our residences, complete this online form with your full details. 
    • We will issue you with an ID number so you can apply online.
    • Once you have your ID number you can apply online.
  • English language course students (TESOL and LEAP)

    • If your course start date is after 1 September select your year of study as 2018/19 and non-standard course student as your student type.
