Entry requirements for America

This page outlines the qualifications we accept from America, and the general grades you will need. Some courses have different requirements, so check your course page carefully before you apply.

Undergraduate courses

  • Two GCE/VCE A level passes
  • High School Graduation Diploma with 3 AP’s, SAT or ACT
  • Other international qualifications gained after 13 years of secondary/further education
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

We welcome IB students. If you achieve 28 points or more you will usually get an offer on our undergraduate courses. For information about IB points equivalencies against the UCAS tariff please visit the UCAS website.

If you do not meet the academic and English entry requirements for direct entry to an undergraduate degree you can consider studying our International Foundation Programme. 

Postgraduate taught courses

  • A first degree or professional qualification recognised as being equivalent to degree standard
  • An HND or higher education diploma with substantial work experience in an appropriate field
  • Successful completion of a recognised pre-Masters course

Postgraduate research

  • Masters degree from a recognised university
