Entry requirements for China

This page outlines the qualifications we accept from China, and the general grades you will need. Some courses have different requirements, so check your course page carefully before you apply.

Undergraduate courses

  • Diploma from Specialised College (Zhongzhnan)
  • Diploma from Vocational Secondary School (Zhixiao)
  • Three year middle school diploma plus foundation degree
  • A levels

The above qualifications from China will be considered for entry on to undergraduate programmes, with a minimum average of 60 per cent:

Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a Chinese university may be considered for direct entry to Sheffield Hallam University undergraduate programmes.

We welcome IB students. If you achieve 28 points or more you will usually get an offer on our undergraduate courses.

Graduate diplomas

  • Three year university diploma
  • Two year university diploma with one or two years work experience

The above qualifications from China will be considered for entry on to pre-masters programmes, with a minimum pass mark of 60 per cent.

Postgraduate courses

  • Four year Bachelor Degree from a recognised university
  • Three year university diploma plus relevant work experience
  • Successful completion of a recognised pre-masters course

The above qualifications from China will be considered for entry on to postgraduate taught programmes, with a usual minimum average of 60 per cent.

Postgraduate research

  • Masters degree from a recognised University

The Northern Consortium (NCUK)

Please note that these requirements only apply to students currently studying at a Northern Consortium centre.

For entry on to year one of undergraduate programmes we will consider a minimum English for Academic Purposes (EAP) grade of C plus between approximately 96 - 128 International Foundation Year (IFY) subject points.

For entry on to year two of undergraduate programmes we will consider a minimum English for Academic Purposes (EAP) grade of C plus pass with credit (60 per cent) in your International Diploma subject modules.

For postgraduate programmes we will consider a minimum English for Academic Purposes (EAP) grade of C plus a pass in your Graduate Diploma research modules.

For some courses work experience may also be required
