Entry requirements for India

This page outlines the qualifications we accept from India, and the general grades you will need. Some courses have different requirements, so check your course page carefully before you apply.

Undergraduate courses

  • Standard XII with an average score of 65 per cent
  • A levels
  • International Baccalaureate
  • HND qualifications will be considered for entry to the second or third year of a relevant undergraduate degree

Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a recognised Indian university may be considered for direct entry to Sheffield Hallam University undergraduate programmes.

We welcome IB students. If you achieve 28 points or more you will usually get an offer on our undergraduate courses.

If you do not meet the academic and English entry requirements for direct entry to an undergraduate degree you can consider studying our International Foundation Programme. 

Postgraduate taught courses

  • Three year Bachelor Degree with a minimum score of between 55 to 60 per cent or above (from a reputable university)
  • Four year Bachelor Degree with a minimum score of 55 per cent or above (from a reputable university)
  • Successful completion of a recognised pre-masters course

Indian students who have reached a minimum of 70 per cent in English at Standard XII will be considered as equivalent to IELTS 6.0 for a number of post graduate programmes. 

Postgraduate research

  • Masters degree from a recognised University
