Manchester airport

When you arrive at Manchester airport, head to passport control. 

If you’re from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, or the USA and staying for over 6 months, you can use the automated eGates.

If you’re a short-term student (up to 6 months) or from a country not listed above, you must see an officer to get a passport stamp. This stamp gives you the permissions needed for your studies. To assist with this, download and present the request for a passport stamp document to a Border Force Officer. It can be shown either printed or on a mobile device.

Making your own way to Sheffield

If you arrive outside of the service dates or choose to travel on your own, you can use the train or coach services at the airport. 

• Train: Take the first available train to Manchester Piccadilly and change there for a direct train to Sheffield. Train costs from £17 and takes 1 hour 20 minutes.
• Coach: There are a few limited services by coach to Sheffield operated by National Express. You’ll need to get a through ticket, changing at Leeds (costs from £12 and takes 4 hours).
