Diagnostic imaging and mentorship

Diagnostic Imaging

Our Diagnostic Imaging modules are designed to be pertinent and relevant to current and future clinical practice and closely relate to the important issues in diagnostic imaging.

The Chest Radiographic Image Interpretation module provides the underpinning theory of image interpretation of the most common radiological investigation; the chest X-ray. It will be highly relevant to health professionals who encounter this modality on a daily basis; radiographers, doctors, nurse practitioners, and physiotherapists for example. The Computed Tomography Head Image Interpretation module is closely aligned to the current NICE guidelines on head injury whereby access to immediate imaging and interpretation is so vital.

Our Diagnostic Imaging Team is a small but vastly experienced team of 9 academic staff, in addition to a number of associate and specialist visiting lecturers who are current clinical practitioners. All are HCPC registered Diagnostic Radiographers, some of whom still practice clinically as practitioners and advanced practitioners. There is wide ranging educational and imaging expertise across the team including image interpretation, cross sectional imaging, ultrasound, breast imaging and research. The team is committed to providing an innovative, flexible and supportive teaching environment, whilst promoting the radiography profession. The modular approach allows learners to personalise their study to suit their desired outcomes and the distance learning delivery allows them to study at a time and place that suits them.

Education and Mentorship

We have a strong history in providing courses in the areas of Education and Mentorship. In response to national agendas and student feedback we have to developed new modules and updated others for the 2016/7 academic year:

Mentorship
Our new Mentor Preparation for the Health Professions module is NMC approved. It will be offered at a both level 7 accreditation and non-credit bearing , both options being delivered by distance learning. The flexibility offered by distance learning allows your staff to study at a time, place and pace to fit around your personal and work life.

MSc Healthcare Education
We offer a number of modules from our MSc Healthcare Education programme via distance learning as part of the London CPPD contract, including Introduction to Healthcare Education and Advancing Your Healthcare Education Practice. These modules are delivered to an interprofessional audience and offers the opportunity to study alongside a range of health and social care professions considering education holistically. Core modules can be used to gain NMC teacher status and we can support those of you wishing to gain other educational professional recognitions such as the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
