Introduction

This module explores how success can be measured in healthcare services.

You will examine how feedback from patients, families, and staff, alongside qualitative and quantitative data, can inform evaluation and improvement. Through critical analysis and reflection, you will develop the skills to assess service impact and support learning, leadership, and high-quality person-centred care.

What you’ll learn

You will develop the ability to critically evaluate how success is measured in healthcare services. You will explore how feedback, outcomes, and qualitative and quantitative data can be used to assess service improvement initiatives, evaluate impact on individuals and organisations, and support learning, leadership, and evidence-informed improvement in health and social care.

How you’ll learn

You will learn through guided online learning, tutor-led discussions, and independent study. Interactive activities and reflective exercises will support you to apply theory, feedback, and data to real healthcare contexts, enabling you to critically evaluate service improvement initiatives and develop practical approaches to measuring success and supporting continuous improvement.

  • Entry requirements

    Applicants should normally hold a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification. This module is designed for professionals working within health and social care who are involved in service improvement, evaluation, or leadership activities. Applicants without a degree may be considered if they can demonstrate relevant professional experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level. All applicants should have access to a professional context that enables them to reflect on service improvement and evaluation within healthcare practice.

  • Attendance

    Delivery Method:

    Synchronous online learning (distance learning). Take part in live, timetabled online sessions using tools like video calls and virtual classrooms. You’ll learn in real time with tutors and other students, with no need to attend campus for teaching or assessments.
