'The staff and students I spoke to at the Hallam open day were so friendly and enthusiastic. I knew that I wanted to go to a university where people were passionate about the course I was going to spend the next three years of my life studying.

'The seminars and lectures are interlinked with placements so that you're continually learning and reflecting on your practice whilst back in university. The assessed placement was towards the end of the year which made me feel confident that I would be ready and prepared to take on and teach a full class.

'Each placement is tailored to help you develop as a teacher so that when you leave university you feel prepared to have your own class. In first year, you find your feet as a teacher and spend all year in the same school so you build fantastic relationships with the staff who support you and the children you teach. In second year, you have more responsibility on four specialised short placements to fine tune your learning.

'I love being able to help children learn, grow as a person and achieve their true potential to start them on their journey to chasing their dreams. It's so rewarding to see the joy on their faces when they learn something new or finally understand something they've been struggling with.

'Sheffield Hallam has helped me grow as a person. I have learnt to find a balance between work and play, I have built strong friendships, learnt to live independently, become hugely more organised and feel ready to start life as a teacher.'
