Joey at Tramlines festival

Joey is a third-year Festival and Entertainment Management student. She works for Ticketmaster and Live Nation as a freelancer alongside her studies. This opportunity has allowed her to understand more about the industry, develop problem-solving skills and grow into a more confident event professional.

“I have had the opportunity to work at many big music festivals across the UK, including Download Festival, Wireless Festival, and Camp Bestival.

“I have worked as a box office assistant and scanning lane supervisor. I coordinated assistance for customers' special requests and service needs regarding their tickets. I resolved complaints regarding transactions and ticket issuing. Occasionally, I would be based on the scanning lanes resolving technical issues of the ticket scanning machines and responding to any queries.

“I really enjoyed working with a team of people from different backgrounds, and getting insight into different roles and career paths in the events industry.”

“My tutors are really helpful and understanding about my freelance work alongside my university studies. They have been some of my biggest supporters throughout. I would not have been able to cope and juggle both working and studying without their help.

“It’s such a privilege to do what you love, and love what you do. My peers and I exchange experiences, thoughts, and ideas to help each other succeed in the industry. I truly enjoy this course and I would recommend it to anyone out there with a passion for the live music and festival industry.

“I plan to go full-time as a freelancer when I finish my studies. My current ambitions are to get as much work experience as possible and fill up my diary.”
