‘I created a campaign with South Yorkshire Police.’

BA (Hons) Sociology student Lucy spent her placement developing her own crime prevention campaign with South Yorkshire police. On finishing her placement Lucy became the neighbourhood team's first paid intern, enabling her to launch the campaign she had created.

'Sociology as a course is all about looking at society and why people do what they do, so I think that gave me a really good basis for coming into the police.'

'I would really encourage other students to do a placement. It gets you out of that university bubble to go into the real world. I feel much more confident as a person, as well as using this data and all that work I’ve done to apply to my dissertation.'
