Student Support Advisers

Your Student Support Advisers are here to help and advise you on a range of topics and make sure that you are aware of any help available to you within the University.  We may also signpost you to useful external services.  We work closely with academic staff and other teams within the University to answer your questions and ensure that you get the support that you need.

What can we advise on?

Academic concerns - SSA's can explain the options available if you are struggling to meet deadlines and falling behind on your course We can explain what your results mean, advise on progression through the levels, University regulations and taking a break in study.

Personal concerns - SSA's can provide advice and refer you to support illness (physical and mental), bereavement, disabilities or other life circumstances are impacting on your studies and/or wellbeing.

Practical concerns - SSA's can signpost you to help if you have money worries, fee queries or need residential support.

This is just a snapshot of the kind of topics that SSA's can talk to students about!

 Sheffield Hallam at Risk Pathway

Here at Hallam we have a Sheffield Hallam At Risk Pathway (SHARP) in place which enables us to offer a holistic support offer to students in exceptional circumstances. This includes students who are at risk to themselves and others, and who have complex support needs which cannot be managed through our standard student support model.
