University Advanced Professional Certificate in Project Management for Human Rights

Entry requirements

  • A 2:2 Honours degree or equivalent-with no specific subject requirements
  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for non-native speakers of English (minimum 5.5 in each element)
  • The programme targets people in employed in the field of human rights and social justice pursuing personal and professional development.
  • For applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria their suitability for entry onto an award will be discussed with the client and the individual and regard will particularly be given to the individual's roles and responsibilities within the workplace.

Information about the course

A one week intensive practical course offering 30 credits at PG level (7) on the practice of project management in the context of human rights work.

Designed and delivered by experts working in the field of human rights and projects.

Staff based in the Helena Kennedy Centre for Human Rights will lead the course, bringing in external practitioners working on high profile international human rights projects.

Human rights projects are inevitably complex and require high level skills to ensure positive outcomes. This one week intensive CPD course is designed to help you understand, analyse, critically evaluate and plan projects in the field of Human Rights.

It is aimed at people currently working or intending to work in the field of human rights, and those studying the area.

The course blends theory of project management with practical application, and unique examples of human rights projects in action.

Experts working in the field of international human rights guide you through the theory and realities of project work.

The emphasis is on the practical application of the theory of project management through case studies. You will have the opportunity to analyse important current cases with your tutors.

You will be introduced to international experts and have the chance to question them and discuss current issues.

The cost of the course will be £1050 for the week (with a reduced cost of £840 for employees of the FCO and Liberty).
