On March 27, 2025, School of Computing and Digital Technologies organised Smart Computing Showcase which was part of our ongoing Festival of Computing events. The event was a vibrant celebration of postgraduate talent, creativity, and innovation. The event proudly featured around 40 research posters presented by our MSc students, showcasing the exciting and impactful work being undertaken across a broad spectrum of computing disciplines, including:
- Data Analytics
- Cyber Security
- Computer Systems
- AI Applications
- Internet of Things (IoT)

Our postgraduate students brought energy and originality to the event, confidently presenting their ideas and engaging in rich discussions with staff, visitors, and peers. The poster exhibition highlighted not only technical knowledge but also the real-world relevance of their research addressing contemporary challenges and envisioning future technologies that will shape our digital world.
These projects exemplify the strengths of Sheffield Hallam's MSc programmes, which are designed to develop both specialist expertise and industry readiness. Each course blends academic rigour with practical application, offering opportunities for students to collaborate with local and national organisations. Whether students are focused on developing smarter AI models, securing digital infrastructures, or creating data-driven insights, they gain hands-on experience that translates directly into employability.
The event also served as a valuable networking opportunity, with students receiving feedback and encouragement from a wide range of attendees, including:
Ross Musgrove - Bravand
Ryan Keyworth - CFO, Sheffield Hallam University
Leadership Team of the School of Computing and Digital Technologies:
- Dharam Shadija - Head of School
- Dr. Diana Hintea, SFHEA, & Mark Jacobi - Deputy Heads
- Chris Roast – Research, Innovation & Knowledge Exchange Lead

We were also delighted to welcome many more colleagues who came to support and celebrate our students’ work, including:
Aslam Jarwar, Carlos Eduardo da Silva, Mick Marriott SFHEA, Najam Ul Hasan, Alice Arnold, Essam Eliwa, Leo Vefghi, Muhammad Aitsam, and Alejandro Jiménez Rodríguez – your presence meant a lot to our students and team.
“Events like Smart Computing Showcase reflect the heart of our postgraduate experience, collaborative, applied, and deeply connected to the digital future.
