18th World Congress of Applied Linguistics
Thursday 13 July 2017
Helen Donaghue gave a presentation at the 18th World Congress of Applied Linguistics (AILA) in Rio de Janeiro in July.
The presentation reported on findings from a linguistic ethnographic study of the construction and negotiation of professional identities in one to one feedback meetings between supervisors (observers) and experienced, in-service English language teachers.
The presentation used empirical data to show how supervisors' powerful identities are claimed, challenged and contested.
